CNC Cutting Services from ProdEX

3Diligent ProdEX’s CNC cutting digital-manufacturing services are processes in which machining tools are controlled by a computer program that instructs the equipment to make precision three-dimensional cuts. Within the realm of automated technologies known as subtractive manufacturing, the offerings of ProdEX include laser cutting, sawing, water jetting, and others.

How Does CNC Cutting Work?

Using CNC, we program specific jobs using manufacturing software to perform the automated cutting. These digital blueprints guide the machine in a way some classify as robotic. Cutting tool placement is determined by this “part program.”

Both CNC cutting and machining are more accurate than manual methods, but the program sees each material as flawless, when artifacts and microscopic structures are, in fact, present in every piece. Precision of the cuts can be reduced with cutting in more than one direction.

Laser CNC Cutting

The laser CNC cutting service quickly cuts metals, plastics, wood, and other materials into intricate geometries with extremely tight tolerances. Using an ultra-thin beam, this subtractive manufacturing technology produces smooth finishes on complex parts. Furthermore, laser CNC cutting can offer multi-axis solutions that extend the use of this process beyond 2-dimensional cuts.

Sawing CNC Cutting

In the process of sawing, a metal or other hard-durability blade with teeth either rotates or reciprocates at a high rate of speed. As it is applied to the material, the blade removes a narrow swath of the material creating two or more pieces or removing a piece called a cut-off. Sawing is a process used independently or to augment other manufacturing processes.

These CNC cutting machines can be equipped with automatic loading and unloading devices for scalable projects, or custom adjusted to fit your unique part.

Waterjet CNC Cutting

ProdEX’s waterjet CNC cutting service provides effective options for maintaining material properties during cuts by creating heat-free zones.

This subtractive technology jets a focused mixture of water and abrasive material. Most workpieces during this process are held on a 2D flat support that allows the jetted mixture to pass through the part and into a solid-free catching pool.

In general, this technology does not require post processing, and abrasive-free mixtures can achieve widths of 0.003″.

We worked with 3Diligent on a urethane casting project. The breadth of materials and services they offered, including flame retardant and color options, made them a great partner on this program. We were very satisfied with the experience.
