Advantages
Details and Complexity. Extremely high pressure during the molding process makes small designs and features possible.

Limitations
Expensive Up-Front Costs. The high cost of tooling makes this process only suitable for large batches.
Long Lead TimesSimilar to the high 'up-front' cost of PIM, there is a high "waiting" cost the beginning of the process compared to how quickly the units are actually produced that makes this process best for large batch sizes.
Design Restrictions. While PIM allows for complex part geometries to made, some considerations have to be made during the design process for a part if it will be made using this process; like including draft angles, using a standard wall thickness across the part, and avoiding sharp edges.
