Steel Casting Overview
Steel is an alloy of iron, carbon, and other elements. Delivering a very high strength-to-cost ratio, steel is commonly used across a wide variety of industrial applications, including architecture, infrastructure, planes, trains, and automobiles.
Steel casting is one of the most common ways parts are fabricated using this high-utility material. With steel casting, molten steel is poured into a custom-designed mold, taking the shape of the negative space in the mold. After solidifying, complex steel parts can be removed from the mold and used in a tremendous range of applications. Examples include railroad tracks, structural beams, appliances, containers, cutlery, surgical instruments, sculpture, jewelry, and more.

Beyond Steel Castings
3Diligent offers a range of casting options across metals, urethanes, and silicone. 3Diligent's casting service includes a variety of options beyond steel castings to meet your needs, regardless of volume or material requirements. Using our extensive 3D printing capability to produce high-fidelity master patterns, we are able to deliver outstanding urethane (RTV-Room Temperature Vulcanization) and silicone castings. 3Diligent provides both sand casting and investment casting approaches to support you from prototype to production volumes.
Alloy Steel 8620 is a case-hardening steel containing nickel, chromium, and molybdenum. Commonly used in the production of medium-strength parts, it can be a cost-effective option for parts such as gears, crankshafts, and fasteners. 3Diligent offers cast Steel 8620 parts through our metal-casting service.
