Silicone Soft Tool Casting Service
In casting, tools are the hard or soft molds used to manufacture components. Hard tools are made of metals such as steel or nickel alloys chosen because they are capable of withstanding thousands of production cycles but are expensive to produce and prohibitively expensive for short-run manufacturing. Soft tools are typically made of composite materials such as silicone, carbon fiber, or fiberglass. In soft tool casting (silicone tool) service the molds are softer than metals. Soft tools do not last as long so you can either make many soft tools (molds) or make one permanent mold. In some cases, you can make many soft tool molds for less than the cost of a single hard tool mold.
